I was seated opposite the boat ramp when I heard a loud thump. I turned around to see a beautiful healthy Pelican stone dead on the footpath.The poor bird had attempted to take off from it's perch and touched two power lines simultaneously killing the majestic bird instantly.Some kids on bikes saw the incident as it occurred and a fisherman yelled out 'don't touch it "...someone eventually pulled the pelican onto the grass . WIRES responded by collecting the bird whereupon they will do an autopsy for research and count how many hooks plastic bags and other foreign matter in the pelicans gut....plastic soup!
